August 03 Hooray, I'm doneI have just gotten done with some new projects one being a complete redesign of my real estate website. The three areas in which I am most proud of our the Seattle real estate, Boeing relocation and Everett Naval relocation pages since they are so clean looking and informative. It is redesign is the largest project I've taken but it only took me 2 months. Well that is all for now. January 11 Small Business Blog DirectoriesAs a follow up to my last post, Quality Backlinks, I was surfing the internet looking for blogs by other small business owners. During my search I found a Small Business Blog Directory that accepts submissions from sites just like this one. It is a great opportunity to build quality back links using directories as the platform.
Directories are the easiest way to get a quality back links from trusted sites but there are some drawbacks. Some directories require a reciprocal link or paid submission but these are minor compared to the quality of link a site will recieve. So what are some other directories out there that blogs can submit too?
DMOZ - The Open Directory Project is directory with human editors. The biggest advantage of this directory is that Google uses so it has a lot of trust and page rank associated with it just be sure to follow the submission guidelines to the "T".
Best of the Web Blogs - Is the biggest blog directory and it is easy to submit a site to but it does take some time to get listed and it cost $39.95 (one time fee).

Experience
Toby first got his experience in the consutling industry while studying at the University of Washington, Bothell. He worked as the team leader and manager of a team of four that provided consutling services to a Kirkland based mill work company, Masterpiece AG-Limited. Through that experience Toby learned team dynamics, leadership, time management and task completion skills while providing high quality, usable products for clients.
Simultaneously, Toby was interning for the Seattle Mariners leading a team for the Field of Lights Christmas event held in Safeco Field. It was his duty to put together a part of the event and manage it through the holidays. Using his leadership skills, Toby created a area that catered to kids and families. Customer Service and creating a welcoming environment was of the highest importance. The Seattle mariners awarded Toby with a Letter of Recommendation and a authentic Mariners Jersey at the recap meeting for the Field of Lights.
In his second consulting project, Toby lead another team in a collaboration project with the Yakama Nation Museum for his benchmarket course. The project goal was to benchmark another company to see how their practices could be implemented for the success of the Nation. The benchmarket partner was The Museum of Flight. Through the project the student team put together a fundraising program and made recommendations like creating a Board of Director to govern the direction of the Museum and to direct its fundraising effort. After graduating college, the University of Washington, Bothell approached Toby in being a student advisor in an international student collaboration project. He went to Bosnia for two weeks to help teach business strategy, team building & leadership at Slobomir P Univerzitet. Toby experienced first hand Bosnian culture through spending time with the students in the college environment as well as on a friendship basis. He attended various dinners with the student's families (while talking history & politics), experienced a school dance and lived in the University as the only American during his stay.
Toby Barnett is a person driven by experiences and his motivation comes from the interaction with people. He loves to learn as much as he likes to share what he has learned.

February 21 About TW Resource GroupChris and Toby have been great friends since they shared days at the University of Washington, Bothell, and over the years they have grown to become business partners. It all began in Toby's apartment and a 4 hour internet marketing seminar. Armed with a new found knowledge they decided to set up their first company and grab the entrepreneurial reigns. In 2004, Chris and Toby incorporated TW Resource Group, LLC and it has been a learning experience of a lifetime. Executive retreats and team building exercises usually happen during the winter. Chris and Toby usually venture to a ski/snowboard resort and spend the day making turns and relaxing while maintaining a close bond of friendship. Football weekends are also an important part of team building. Chris and Toby regularly watch Husky and Seahawk games while they discuss business opportunities or current projects.
